Jules and Holly have been best friends since university. They tell each other everything, trading revelations and confessions and sharing both the big moments and the small details of their lives: Holly is the only person who knows about Jules’ affair; Jules was there for Holly when her husband died. And their two children - just three years apart - have grown up together. So when Jules’ daughter, Saffie, makes a rape allegation against Holly’s son, Saul, neither woman is prepared for the devastating impact this will have on their friendship or their families.

There’s a moment, when you meet someone new, when the connection is so strong that making a friend can feel like falling in love. That’s how it was for Connie and Ness. They met in the park while their children played, and as they talked, they realised they were neighbours. Perhaps it was only natural that they and their families would become entirely inseparable. But when Ness’ marriage ends in a bitter divorce, she is suddenly at Connie’s house all the time. Connie doesn’t have a moment to herself, no time alone with her husband, not a second to chat to her kids.

This book is absolutely brilliant. Please download it.. You WON'T regret it. The narrator for Connie was superb. The book is laugh out loud funny in parts. But also deals really well with the subject of Mental Illness. Not for those who are easily offended, as it is a bit near the knuckle in parts. But its so refreshingly real and identifiable!! If I could give it 10 stars.. I. Would!!!

I would avoid this book like the Plague! I have never listened to such a Crashingly boring book! The plot was all over the place! People we Ho haven't been spoken to for years are suddenly forgiven and tbh I guessed straight away what the antagonist was up to with the kid! It started off trying to be a ghost story and ended up something else entirely.
Totally useless and unbelievable and the way the Protagonist deals with her children.. Grrr. Absolutely awful!!

When a paragraph in an evening newspaper reveals a decades-old tragedy, most readers barely give it a glance. But for three strangers, it's impossible to ignore. For one woman it's a reminder of the worst thing that ever happened to her. For another it's the dangerous possibility that her darkest secret is about to be discovered. And for a third, a journalist, it's the first clue in a hunt to uncover the truth. The Child's story will be told.
