Random House presents the audiobook edition of Atomic Habits by James Clear, read by the author. A revolutionary system to get 1 percent better every day. People think when you want to change your life, you need to think big. But world-renowned habits expert James Clear has discovered another way. He knows that real change comes from the compound effect of hundreds of small decisions - doing two push-ups a day, waking up five minutes early or holding a single short phone call. He calls them atomic habits.

I heard about the book while listening to The Minimalists podcast as the author joins them in discussing habits. It sparked my interest and make me get the book. The content is novel and keeps you interested as a reader and I really like how the author breaks everything down. It really makes you think about the habits you do and want to stop and the habits you don't currently do but would like to start. I would definitely recommend it! And I'm sure I'll dip in and out of it as a refresher and reminder.

I found this book interesting and it offers good tips and guides for investing and becoming financially independent - It is, however, very American-centric as this is the culture that the author is writing from. I found this difficult to translate into a European model, particularly being a complete beginner. I did, however, find that there was some really good tips and advice on finances in general and is definitely a good guide for a beginner but I did find it very American based so difficult to follow from a European perspective.

A good listen that I would recommend for people interested in the idea of financial independence and living with less. Definitely some good ideas but is certainly a plan that would need commitment as it is very detailed and would require a lot of time.As a European, I find it a little difficult to translate some of the actions and ideas as the book is based on American culture and lifestyle, particularly the investing section but still worth a listen for a bit of inspiration.

In her late 20s, Cait Flanders found herself stuck in the consumerism cycle that grips so many of us: earn more, buy more, want more, rinse, repeat. Even after she worked her way out of nearly $30,000 of consumer debt, her old habits took hold again. When she realized that nothing she was doing or buying was making her happy - only keeping her from meeting her goals - she decided to set herself a challenge: she would not shop for an entire year. The Year of Less documents Cait's life for 12 months during which she bought only consumables.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I loved hearing about the author's journey and her tips on how to go about beginning a shopping ban yourself. It was great to hear the author narrating the book herself and I loved how open and honest she is in her writing. Really inspiring and motivating - Definitely makes me wasn't to examine my spending habits and be a more mindful and intentional consumer.

For the millions of people who want spirituality without religion, Sam Harris’s new book is a guide to meditation as a rational spiritual practice informed by neuroscience and psychology. From bestselling author, neuroscientist, and “new atheist” Sam Harris, Waking Up is for the increasingly large numbers of people who follow no religion, but who suspect that Jesus, Buddha, Lao Tzu, Rumi, and the other saints and sages of history could not have all been epileptics, schizophrenics, or frauds.

I struggled to get through this book. Although thought-provoking at times, I found it difficult to follow and didn't really care for the narration. I think the written book may not translate well into the spoken word. I found the author's narration to be bland and it didn't keep my attention. Some of the ideas are a bit 'out there' and I thought he was very critical of every expression of belief in anything beyond what is earthly and tangible i.e. belief that there maybe something beyond this life; although I know religion can be taken to extremes by some so I guess he was referring to that as the 'norm'. In general I found the final 30 or so minutes of the book to be the easiest to listen to and I thought the conclusion worked well but I don't think I would sit though this book again.

The book had some very thought-provoking points and helps take perspective of life's problems. It encourages one to step back and observe events, one's own emotions, thoughts etc. as opposed to getting carried away in the moment which was interesting. However, I felt it was a little far-fetched in parts, claiming that eventually nothing will ever upset or bother you and I also found the last chapter to be particularly questionable as it pushed a 'oneness' with God but overall I enjoyed it and have certainly taken some teachings away with me after reading.

I love that the author narrated the book himself, it made it feel much more personal and it definitely suited the story, as it is after all, his journey.
I initially heard about this book in The Minimalism documentary by The Minimalists.
I really enjoyed it from beginning to end and couldn't wait for my daily commute to and from work to listen to it.
Some anecdotes were laugh out loud funny, particularly the author's re-telling of his first retreat. I found it difficult to contain my laughter during my commute and admittedly, I sometimes failed.
It was so interesting to hear about the author's life and work and I definitely came away from reading the book each time with more and more to reflect on. I also really appreciated how honest the entire book was, from personal stories to inner thoughts, doubts and struggles, I thought it was really refreshing to hear such candid honesty.
I would definitely recommend this book to others and will undoubtedly come back to it as a reference again and again.

I have only recently tried audio books and I have to say I love them! It's so easy to listen during your commute or when doing daily chores around the house. This book is very much a practical guide to accompany Marie Kondo's first book 'The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up'. I found the book useful and will certainly go back to use it as a reference guide throughout my tidying journey but as it is a practical reference book, I found it a little long winded to listen to in certain parts as she describes exactly how to fold things etc. which is really much more of a visual thing but the accompanying PDF with the various diagrams was helpful in this regard. I was still able to picture everything she described in my mind as she spoke and really enjoyed part 3 of the book where she talks about life after tidying. I would definitely recommend the book to anyone who has read Life Changing Magic and maybe going through the tidying process or wants to fine-tune things following their tidying event (in the storage/ organisation stage).
