Geralt is a witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent. He roams the country seeking assignments but gradually comes to realise that while some of his quarry are unremittingly vile, vicious grotesques, others are the victims of sin, evil or simple naivety.

The Metro books have put Dmitry Glukhovsky in the vanguard of Russian speculative fiction alongside the creator of Night Watch, Sergei Lukyanenko. A year after the events of Metro 2033, the last few survivors of the apocalypse, surrounded by mutants and monsters, face a terrifying new danger as they hang on for survival in the tunnels of the Moscow Metro. Featuring blistering action, vivid and tough characters, claustrophobic tension and dark satire, the Metro books have become bestsellers across Europe.

This is one of those books, you will regret nvr listening to,and shouldn't be a good read. It's set in the subway, where survivors have fled, the surface is now a wasteland populated by horrors and dangers that only the brave dare engage, why and how this happened, and the disappearances of heavily armed groups who simply put ther weapons down a die,or are ripped apart, mankind is no longer master of his environment. How the author has managed to write about something that isnt the most interesting of subjects, the subway, has been turned into a must read, listen.

Luke Skywalker's game-changing destruction of the Death Star has made him not only a hero of the Rebel Alliance but a valuable asset in the ongoing battle against the Empire. Though he's a long way from mastering the power of the Force, there's no denying his phenomenal skills as a pilot - and in the eyes of Rebel leaders Princess Leia Organa and Admiral Ackbar, there's no one better qualified to carry out a daring rescue mission crucial to the Alliance cause.

Would you listen to Heir to the Jedi: Star Wars again? Why?

Ive listened to this 2 times now,its because im sure the time line is wrong, luke is using the force well before meeting yoda and yoda is the one who teaches luke to move things via the force, there are other things too but they dont spoil the book but do drive me nuts.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Heir to the Jedi: Star Wars?

Luke falls in love with, but before anything happens, the person dies,i wont spoil it but it happens near the the end.

What does Marc Thompson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Marc Thompson again is one of the best audio book readers, hes a one man troupe of actors
and never fails to bring a book to life

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The best book that you read then listened to,then watched.......unless youve read/listened to visions of the future /spector of the past,or lord of the rings audio book...or listened to any of the metro 20.. books,or.......witcher audio books....hmmmm its a hard one.

Any additional comments?

Timeline is defiantly wrong, but its a very good listen. Its too short, but im guessing its not going to matter as your a starwars fan.

Frey is the captain of the Ketty Jay, leader of a small and highly dysfunctional band of layabouts. An inveterate womaniser and rogue, he and his gang make a living on the wrong side of the law, avoiding the heavily armed flying frigates of the Coalition Navy. With their trio of ragged fighter craft, they run contraband, rob airships, and generally make a nuisance of themselves. So a hot tip on a cargo freighter loaded with valuables seems like a great prospect for an easy heist and a fast buck. Until the heist goes wrong, and the freighter explodes.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a very good read its also read by the great Rupert degas, who in my opinion is the best reader of books out there now.If your a fan of serenity tv series/film this is the book for you as it is almost a direct rip off,in style and content....ie cowboys in space, trying to make a living, anyway they can.

Who was your favorite character and why?

There is no stand out character they are all well written ,and considering this is a first book{and only.....at the time of writing} the characters are fleshed out quite quickly.

Have you listened to any of Rupert Degas’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Another flawless performance, multiple characters,no characters are too similar,so no confusion as to who is whom.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Its not a"got moved book"the best way to describe it, is by saying its a book based on serenitys style...which probably explains why i cant find any more of them....sadly.

Any additional comments?

A must read for serenity fans, due to its similarity.

The Falklands War was one of the strangest in British history - 28,000 men sent to fight for a tiny relic of empire 8,000 miles from home. At the time, many Britons saw it as a tragic absurdity, but the British victory confirmed the quality of British arms and boosted the political fortunes of the Conservative government.

What other book might you compare Battle for the Falklands to, and why?

This is the first time ive bought one of these type of book,i got it in a buy 1 get 1 free offer very impressed.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Strangly, the first part of the book was the most interesting as i was unaware of just how close we came to loosing, right from the get go....even before the fleet set sail. But i have to be honest i only bought it for the actual fighting, and the conflict the rest was a bonus.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

falklands

Any additional comments?

This is a little gem,the person reading it is a bit stuffy, but you soon get into it,lots of info which i wasnt aware of,i enjoyed it, and will listen to it again at some point.

The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms.

Would you listen to Ender's Game again? Why?

This is by far the best audio book ive listened to,including lord of the rings trilogy which i thought would never be beaten.Regardless of your views on the writer and his opinions, not mine by the way,the guy can write. He is the only person to write an ending to his book that i didnt see coming a mile away. Here goes ...in a war where aliens always seem to have the upper hand the earth has united and in a desperate bid to end the 3rd bugger war,the earth now trains its best and greatest from childhood, taken away from his family ender is the 3rd child to be allowed birth, his previous siblings all failed and were ejected from the military.....will ender wiggins be any different? One last statement...when they say this is a must read{listen}they arnt kidding.

Who was your favorite character and why?

cant help but like val{valentine}shes funny and desperate and gets the better of peter

What does Stefan Rudnicki and Harlan Ellison bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

They are brilliant all the cast readers are brilliant, they get the feel of the book perfectly

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It did make me laugh and i have to admit to feelings...im a bloke so thats all your getting....stiff upper lip ....

Somewhere in the galaxy, millions suddenly perish in a blinding instant of pain, anguish, and despair, a disruption of the Force so shocking, it is felt by Luke at his Jedi academy on Yavin 4 and by Leia at home on Coruscant. It is a deed that rivals the terrifying power of the Death Star, the long-destroyed weapon of the defeated Empire.

this is a very short book even by normal starwars audio books,it never really takes off,the start is slow and the ending is dissapointing and predictable, but that said its a starwars book and as such a must read. The book starts off with a explosion that is felt through the force by luke and leia, this sets off a chain of events, including han and calrissian setting off for smugglers run ,evntually leading to the meeting of lukes former trainee and a dull fight at the end.Not one to buy at full price nor would i waste a token on this book, wait till theres a sale or be dissapointed.
