Britain has been defined by its conflicts, its conquests, its men and its monarchs. To say that it's high time it was defined by its women is a severe understatement. Jenni Murray draws together the lives of 21 women to shed light upon a variety of social, political, religious and cultural aspects of British history. In lively prose Murray reinvigorates the stories behind the names we all know and reveals the fascinating tales behind those less familiar.

Rivitting, inspiraional and eyeopening

What other book might you compare A History of Britain in 21 Women to, and why?

Not too sure I would really want to compare this book! It ws one of its kind! In fact I am due for a second listen.

What does Jenni Murray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

A wryness and sense of humour that was completely unexpected

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Beware! A woman lives here!

Good story with steady narration. Could have been s bit shorter, but the ending was the best. Not too sure what ACD would have thought of it though
