In this definitive biography - blessed by John le Carré himself - Adam Sisman reveals the man behind the best-selling persona. In John le Carré, Sisman shines a spotlight on David Cornwell, an expert at hiding in plain sight - "born to lying," he wrote in 2002, "bred to it, trained to it by an industry that lies for a living, practiced in it as a novelist."

An inspirational summation of my favorite writer. It almost reads like an spy novel and definitely has a motivational drive to aspire for greatness. Most excellent writing that encourages me to pursue my life long desire to write a story that would hopefully reflect at least the shadow of the Carré's amazing body of work. Overall, Mr Sisman intelligent story writing combined with Mr Jayston amazing performance works extremely good. Highly recommended.

Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She's even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. And then she sees something shocking. It's only a minute until the train moves on, but it's enough. Now everything's changed.

If one is "human" and flawed, as I am, you will like the story; as it reveals our deepest aspirations and fears; a modern society struggles of addictions, disillusionment, and loneliness contrived in a well written crime story. The storytellers are believable and empathetic. I recommend it highly.
