I don't really listen to sci-fi I'm more of a epic fantasy reader, I'm not sure why I picked this book but really glad I did, my partner who normally has to sit in the car next to me and listen to the book was gripped (never happened before)

My only downside was it's too short and I wanted more!!!

I have just smashed through this book in no time at all, if I would have know just how good they were before reading I wouldn't have waited to read them.

these books have a big expansive world, many entangling stories and some twists that I never seen coming or even expected.

I like to think that I have read alot of fantasy books but had sadly never heard of Brent weeks, he will be a name that I look for in the future and I think in the next few days I will have finished book 4 of this series and be wait in number 5.

I really never expected to love these books this much

I have gone through countless number of fantasy books and this series has to be up there as one of the best, the world that this book starts is massive! I have read this book a few times now and I love it more each time, if you like Lord of the rings read this it's bigger and better

Not my normally the type of fantasy book I would listen to, usually opting for more classic fantasy like Sanderson, Jordon etc but really enjoyed.

I like the world that had been built and the idea of classes in it, the characters felt very real with proper human feelings none of the hero taking the high road in this.

dark, gritty and a good book...i would recommend

read alot of reviews before getting this book and seem just the type of book for me (I love fansty type books and read loads) alot of books mention the narrator and how bad he was, I've gone through entire series where I didn't really like the voice over but dealt with it fine.....this narrator is by far the worst and I won't be carrying on this series because of it. I mainly listen during the journey to/from work so only 80% concentrating on the book, with this narrator it's not enough in one sentence, one character I'm sure I heard him go from Sean Connery to ragnar lothbrook to Irish, it makes the conversations so hard to follow, a character has deep gruff voice 2mins later he is from Russia

The way I describe it to work friends is it's a grown up mix between harry potter and narnia, but with real life characters that get drunk, fight and sleep with each other.

that being said mid way into the book I was contemplating stopping, i felt the story lacked excitement, it wasnt original and it wasnt terribly exciting.

I did I the end stick with it and I'm glad I did, the story picked up and even tried to chuck in a twist or two.

Looking back and looking forward I don't think I'm going to carry on the series, maybe one day but I don't feel the need to see what happens next.
