Loved this book when I first read it and was delighted to find it here. I do so hope that the rest of the series find their way to Audible.

this is the start of the series that really defined a universe for me and made the great catalogue of books from the 40K universe what they are. An epic saga in it's own right without Annette's work I don't think you'd get the amazing stuff Black library has gone on to create since. so pleased he's still one of their star players!

Enjoyed the book, interested look at Lion El Johnson who I think the story portrays as a very naive and practically a dullard in anything other than tactics. Found the boyish voices given to the two main protagonists a little tiresome after a while.

interesting insight into the origins of the dark angles. but the ending felt very rushed with so little explanation considering the detail of the rest of the book

This is fantastic, maybe my new favourite of this series which is high praise. Great twists, so much story! Really the book this phase of the series deserved! To date the black library's mater piece! only criticism from an audio side is the change in Narration. Longworth was great in the eisenhorn/ravenor books but he seemed to struggle at times here. Accent selections at times baffling and also a couple out the pronunciations like Baskeville and Beati. Doesn't detract however from an amazing book
