I love all the bbc radio dramatisations of not only P. D. James but also of Agatha Christie however I had them on CDs from years ago and were therefore harder to access . Now that all of P D James radio dramatisations are in the one collection , it is far more convenient to listen to them and therefore more pleasurable to listen to . in fact I was missing a couple of the PD James dramatisations so I now have a complete set .And the dramatisations are superbly done .

In these two dramas, she puts her extraordinary mind to work investigating cases of disguise, dismemberment, mayhem and murder. In Speedy Death, a country house in the 1920s is rocked by a murder which takes place in a room which is first locked, then later unlocked. As fingers point and the suspects begin to turn on each other, another death occurs. Then The Mystery of a Butcher's Shop sees Mrs Bradley investigating as a headless body is found in the butcher's shop.

I loved this Mrs Bradley radio crime drama - everyone's performance was great . My only complaint is that it was too short ( but then all the radio dramas are short ) and I found Mrs. Bradley's maniacal laugh a bit disconcerting at first in that I didn't know whether she is insane or not ....not that it matters ultimately !! :)

Seven instalments of the classic radio crime drama starring Cecil Parker, plus special documentary feature 'A Case for Dr Morelle'. Dr Morelle uses psychological insight, criminology and dogged persistence to solve cases. Here he must deduce the answers to mysteries including a hotel death, a man tormented by nightmares, and deadly threats made to an elderly spinster.

A brand new BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation of HG Wells' famous story of the brutal Martian invasion of Earth. When strange explosions are observed on the surface of Mars, excitement spreads among the scientific community. Surrey astronomer Ogilvy invites his friend Robert to the observatory to witness the turbulence on the red planet.

I was extremely disappointed with this 2017 dramatized version of War of the Worlds which is one of my favourite sci-fi audios . It seems like a cheap production lacking good sound effects and therefore was not even thrilling to listen to . Plus I got slightly confused with the characters . And this version was rather short time wise. The last dramatised version 2007 by the BBC was vastly superior in sound effects and atmosphere and character build up and is still available on audible .

Her daughter - Daisy Dalrymple Fletcher - is somewhat less than pleased but yields to the demands of her mother, especially as she'll be there just before the holidays working on another article for Town and Country about the estate itself. But the family gathering quickly goes awry.

I am afraid I found Lucy Rayner's voice annoying when it came to the narration of the story ( not the when the characters are speaking ) as I felt that the voice inflection was in the wrong places .The story was not very engaging either so I could not wait until it was over as I have to listen till the end in case it get better ( which it never did ) . So I will give all the other Daisy Dalrymple stories a miss and go back to Agatha Christie's Miss Marple which I enjoy immensely.

If you depended on this audio to help you with communicating in Hong Kong or parts of Malaysia in my case , you would have been led astray due to a few inaccuracies . For example under "Transport" section , you hear the English phrase "When does it leave " not detailing what mode of transport is used , yet in the Cantonese translation afterwards , the speaker says " when does the train leave " . Now if you were not familiar with Cantonese , you would have sounded ridiculous asking about another mode of transport , for example , a bus , and saying " when does the train leave " ! Then there are a few other expressions I haven't heard of and I own a few Cantonese phrasebook and accompanying CDs . The Berlitz Cantonese CD with the phrasebook is better because it is more accurate .

the story dragged on for a bit - the reason I like Agatha Christie novels in the first place is because the narration was no longer than 6 to 7 hours otherwise I start to lose interest . Whilst I found Closed Casket to be more enjoyable than Monogram Murders , it was still way too long . Julian Rhind-Tutt seem to be improving as the narrator and his Poirot almost sounds like David Suchet , which I was impressed with . I hope the next new Poirot novel from Sophie Hannah will be slightly shorter .

A collection of BBC radio full-cast dramatisations of Jane Austen's six major novels. Jane Austen is one of the finest writers in the English language, and this volume includes all six of her classic novels. Mansfield Park: on a quest to find a position in society, Fanny Price goes to live with her rich aunt and uncle. Northanger Abbey: young, naïve Catherine Morland receives an invitation to stay at the isolated Gothic mansion Northanger Abbey.

Dramatisations are so much more exciting than just a single narrator to me and they even make Northanger Abbey more tolerable to listen to as it is my least liked Austen novel . And a fantastic buy too . Highly recommended

Even though Agatha Raisin loathes Christmas panto, her friend, Mrs Bloxby, the vicar's wife, has persuaded her to support the local am dram society in their festive offering. Stifling a yawn at the production of Babes in the Wood, Agatha watches the baker playing an ogre strut and threaten onstage until a trapdoor opens, followed by a scream and silence! Surely this wasn't the way the scene was rehearsed. When it turns out the local baker had been murdered most horribly, Agatha puts her team of detectives on the case.

It is amazing how a different narrator makes such a difference to how I respond to the same story . I bought the CD version of this book when it first came out a year ago and the narrator made the story sound boring and therefore disappointing - it took me a week to listen to that version . Then I bought this same book again when it was narrated by Penelope Keith and she just brought the story and characters to life so that I thoroughly enjoyed it as listened to it in just two days . That's because Penelope Keith IS Agatha Raisin as far as I'm concerned .

Series 4 of Lynne Truss's popular BBC Radio comedy thriller. It is 1957, and WWII bomb disposal hero Captain 'mad Hoagy' Hoagland, now fallen on hard times, appears at Brighton Police Station to deliver two boxes. One contains a silver truncheon; an award for valour for Sergeant Brunswick. The other contains the head of one of Mrs Groynes' old criminal accomplices. It is a warning that Mrs G's evil nemesis Adelaide Vine is back, hell-bent on revenge...
