This is a complex book, and with so many characters, moving in and out of the narrative, you have to keep your wits about you otherwise you can get lost. But I have to say I love the way Marian Keyes writes. Very unconventional! I don't think she would mind me saying that. Her stories are character driven. She introduces characters and then loops back on the time line to develop them. Very interesting and experimental I think. Reminds me a little of the way Virginia Woolf wrote her stories.

This book has a lot going on within the family setting. In some ways tragic, and often very funny. I won't say anymore for fear of spoiling it for those that haven't read it yet.

I loved it. What made me love it even more was that she narrated it herself. I found her very easy to listen to, and she read it so well.

Thank you, Marian.

Excellently narrated by Timothy West.

So many sub-plots wound into a single story has to be the work of a master. Very few of the characters, and there are many, are likable. The underlying motivation for almost all of the players is money, which is never a very attractive situation. Marriage in particular, is regarded as a means of coming into money.

I have to say I enjoyed the book. I am glad I listened to it. I wonder if the world, in particular England, really was like this in Trollope's time, or if this is purely the invention of his imagination.
I guess we will never know.

I will listen to more of Trollope's stories in the future. I am interested to know how this compares.

Enjoyed listening to this. Once started couldn't stop and finished it in about a week. I recommend this to anyone. I am not going to discuss the story as I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I don't think anyone will be disappointed with it.
