Gracie Burton is a grandmother living quietly in Devon. She has rarely left the village over the past 40 years. Her daughter, Carina, is immensely high-powered, with her own fast-paced business in London. She has very little time for her 17-year-old daughter, Anastasia, away at boarding school, and even less time for her ageing mother. In many ways, the three of them barely know each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books, so much so I actually purchased all the books and I am reading them in order. This one I felt was just all over the place, I kept falling asleep (which I only do when the book isn't keeping my interest) I hope the next two are better and up to the standard of the first two.

I purchased this in advance and didn't even bother to look at the price or how long it was. I felt it was just a quick fix to get some money in. No proper story line and over in 2 hours, I feel ripped off and will be asking for my money back. Talk about let down - I have bought all the James Patterson books, not only in this series but most of his other ones too and up to know have loved them. I don't understand why the publishers feel the need to do these cheap shots it only winds their customers up!!

Someone else mentioned that they didn't rate the narrator in the first book, but thought she was brilliant in this one - I could not agree more, she was excellent.

The story line was the best one yet. In fact I would go as far as to say this is the best detective book I have read to date (and I have read a lot! Highly recommend, I do think it is best to read the books in order, although you can read them all individually.

This book had me on the edge of my seat, and would make a brilliant TV series.

Would you consider the audio edition of Dead Level to be better than the print version?

Not better, but a great alternative when driving or walking.

Any additional comments?

Another winner from Damien Boyd, great story line. I love his books, living in France it really reminds me of home, I love all the mention of local places. Damien writes great stories without over complicating and manages to keep your interest right the way through. He has not written a bad book yet, roll on the next one. This was the first audible version of his books I have purchased and was not disappointed! Napoleon Ryan read the book very well and got the characters spot on.

Where does Private Vegas rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the latest in the Private series so I didn't want it to end as I knew there wasn't another to follow on with. I have read the whole series in 3 weeks whilst doing my 10,000 step walks each day. There are a couple of things from previous books that I believe still need to answered but I am hoping they will be in the next book. I have loved the complete series and can't wait for the next one.

What made the experience of listening to Murder House the most enjoyable?

Brilliant book, James Patterson kept me guessing right to the end, I kept swapping around to who I thought did it and what the ending would be! I almost burnt the dinner because I wanted to listen to the end. I have to be honest I do fast forward the really gruesome bits but don't feel I miss out on the plot.

Any additional comments?

I used to read JP booked all time until Swimsuit which I found too gruesome it put me off reading any other of JP's books but now I have found the audio versions it is great you just ff any bits you don't want to listen to. Murder House exceeded my expectations.
