this book has so many gaps - you can tell it was written in sections and those sections don't always sync.

1. mcgill meets up with the same primus 2 times but the second meeting doesn't flow from previous meeting.
2.ship was identified as from Rigel then mcgill has to ask where ship is from
3. mcgill confesses a crime to Galina but at end of book she doesn't know anything about it.
4. End of book Mcgill hears about an investigation but he has already spoken to the magwa about it...didn't understand how he could be worried about it at all

there were a few less ittitating flaws but this book just needed to be read end to end

The Solarian League's navy counts its superdreadnoughts by the thousands. Not even its own government knows how enormous its economy truly is. And for hundreds of years, the League has borne the banner of human civilization, been the ideal to which humanity aspires in its diaspora across the galaxy. But the bureaucrats known as the "Mandarins," who rule today's League, are not the men and women who founded it so long ago. They are corrupt, venal, accountable to no one...and they've decided the upstart Star Kingdom of Manticore must be destroyed.

first let it be noted that I did not buy this book when it came out. I waited for the next book to be made available coz the suspense after book 4 taught me a bitter lesson on suspense.

this author is on my prayer list and I have asked the good Lord to keep him safe and his life drama free so I can figure out if the world is safe or not... ok, I know it's a book so I just need the books to keep coming.

Joe and Skippy must have done something in their past lives to earn so much bad luck. I still think they woke the sentinels up somehow.

how do we keep the planet safe when we are the pond scum of the universe? what's going on with the paradise crew? thanks to my planning I will find out shortly in book 6.

rc bray is a spectacular performer. we are alive in the same time span and we should appreciate the man while he is still here!
