I was a bit skeptical at the start as the storyline seemed a bit predictable and all the different voice actors were a bit hard to follow, but Holy heck! By the end, I was on the edge of my seat! And I think I nearly cracked a rib laughing at the credits!

Well that was unexpectedly awesome!

I really didn't know where the storyline was going to go in this one, you can definitely pick out common elements of the Bobiverse series which made me grin. Loved the audio effects used in this to enhance the performance. Many laugh out loud moments. Couldn't stop listening sometimes. I'll definitely be looking for more stories by this author, he really gets into the detail of exploring concepts beyond Earth. Loved it.

Surprisingly good!

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this book as the premise sounds like so many other generic sci-fi stories that are written mainly as an indulgence to the author rather than for the enjoyment of the reader. BUT it became clear within the first few chapters that this was not the case for this story. The author has a masterful way of gripping the reader in the very grit and detail of each situation, to the point where I swear I could feel the grit on my face in the Kublar desert or hear the deep cracks of the combat sled guns firing, even the claustrophobia inside the legionnaires helmets. The story lines were fairly standard but they are so well portrayed that I couldn't stop reading at all, like my own survival depended on the next movement of whichever character we were following. I love this author's style and can't wait to read more of it, of course with RC Bray's legendary performance skills. I just hope the author has enough tricks up his sleeve to not let the storyline get too complicated in future as the scenario unfolding at the end of this book is on mind-boggling scale, readers could easily lose track of what's going on I think.

It's been a roller-coaster ride and I truly had no idea how this was going to end. For me, the scene with Lexi in the hospital with that psychotic freak a few books back will stay with me for a long time, that was absolutely chilling. So many twists in this installment, I was on the edge of my seat half the time. I felt Dan lost a bit of his edge towards the end of this saga, I enjoyed the parts earlier on in the series where his tactical expertise allowed him to easily handle threats that seemed unbeatable to normal people. Honestly, I think everything went to shit as soon as Steve thought it would be a great idea to fly around in an ailing helicopter and Dan decided to clear off to Africa with his all-star crew. After that point, the team just kept getting screwed over and all Dan managed to do was survive each time, when I would have enjoyed it more if he had conquered at least some of the obstacles. Overall, I'm really impressed with this series and not afraid to say I may have shed a tear or two during the epilogue, that was some really powerful imagery and a fitting serious end to Dan's serious saga. Bravo.

It was becoming quite difficult to keep track of all the different story lines in audio format, but the author ties most of it up together nicely at the end. I almost thought he'd forgotten Ickarus and Daedalus!

A good listen but this really just fills in the blank story from one of the Alien film between the colonists discovery of derelict alien ship and the marines arrival so you already know it's not going to end well. I think the captain's ending was the only interesting twist and opens up a very interesting avenue for a branch storyline.

Absolutely spell-binding. This book far exceeded even my wildest expectations of what was possible with the storyline. I couldn't put it down, I couldn't get out of my car without finishing the chapter. I felt like the story was the real world and my life was the boring world outside the book. I took the longer routes to work just to get more time in listening to it. I utterly love it. It epitomises the small slice of an alternative reality that gamers have tasted since the dawn of computer games. I am singularly consumed by my immersion in the story, which is ironic given the nature of the story itself. Definitely going on my top 10 books ever.

Another brilliant title from Clancy with an excellent performance by Pritchard, but I didn't feel this one was quite as engaging as some of his other works. Still an excellent story.
