Saiya Buchanan is a wraith, able to detach her shadow from her body and send it off to do her bidding. But, unlike most of her kin, Saiya doesn't deal in death. Instead, she trades secrets - and in the goblin besieged city of Stirling in Scotland, they're a highly prized commodity. It might just be, however, that the goblins have been hiding the greatest secret of them all. When Gabriel de Florinville, a Dark Elf, is sent as royal envoy into Stirling and takes her prisoner, Saiya is not only going to uncover the sinister truth.

I have read a lot of books centred around Elves, Fae, Goblins and the like so I kinda feel I have a broad variety of some of the best to the worst and I have to admit this comes close to some of the worst. Personally it was incredibly boring. Vert predictable, cliche, the characters lacked any personality and the narration was incredibly dull.
If you are looking for a read to just pass time with a pretty storyline and happy ending then this is for you. If you like a bit more magic and mystery you will probably not enjoy this book.

So if you are very similar then I highly recomend this book. There is absolutely nothing I can fault and truely felt like this book has left a part of itself with me.

It was just pure enjoyment from start to finish. I need more!!

His only shot at recovery lies with the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme in Antica - the stronghold of the southern continent's mighty empire.

I was new to SJM and instantly became the best author I have ever read. I recommended her to Friends, family, colleagues even random people I met.

However this book left me feeling like it was just something released because it had to be. There was none of the humour and witty banter and more importantly there was no excitement beyond the same battle scenes that were very similar to the previous ones.

I really hope the next is going to be soon as I need to get to the GREAT BATTLE SCENE soon or I will die of anticipation!

These are only my opinions and they are not intended to offend anyone.

Set in a terrifyingly brutal Rome-like world, An Ember in the Ashes is an epic fantasy debut about an orphan fighting for her family and a soldier fighting for his freedom. It's a story that's literally burning to be told. What if you were the spark that could ignite a revolution? For years Laia has lived in fear. Fear of the Empire, fear of the Martials, fear of truly living at all. Born as a Scholar, she's never had much of a choice.

From what I can see from the amazing Victoria Aveyard there is never any idea of what will come next. This is one of my favourite series.

What did you like best about this story?

The main Character

What about Rebecca Rainsford’s performance did you like?

Apart from her terrible accents she has an amazing ability to speak out the sounds that are normally quite hard to pronounce for a narrator.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was addicted.

"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own.
