The narration of this book was fantastic! There was nothing wrong with the book in principle, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. It dealt with some hard-hitting subjects and I’m sure some people will thoroughly enjoy it.

I found this book totally confusing and very disappointing! I’m still not sure what happened and what the point was. The narration didn’t grab me either. Wrong choice of narrator in my opinion.

I loved it!

For some this might have been a bit slow but I loved it. The characters were excellently crafted, even the smaller ones. The story is one of secrets, family and friendships. It is poignant at times. I love books, so the thought of Loveday having lines from her favourite books tattooed on her body was so significant.I loved Archie with his exuberance and kindness. For me one of the overriding themes is that friends can be as important if not more so than family. The characters are a mixed bag but full of warmth and humour. I will definitely be looking out for more by this author. The narration was good, particularly Loveday. The male voices were slightly off though.

This was a little predictable but in easy read. I did enjoy it and the scenes with flappy were quite funny. Rachel Atkins is a good narrator but her European accents leave a lot to be desired! If you fancy something easy to just flow over you then this is the book for you.

Too drawn out.

The narration was very good but the story was difficult to get into and too drawn out in my opinion. Some parts were good but it was a struggle to finish this. Also some parts are pretty graphic, so not for the faint hearted.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The narration was brilliant. I’m fascinated by this part of history and so this was right up my street.
I loved Fleetwood and Alice. This book really portrays strong women and bravery and determination. The same struggles that have gone on throughout history. It also shows the greed of some men for power. If you’re interested in the Pendle witches and history, then you’ll enjoy this book.

I’d have liked to give this a higher rating. I really wish the author hadn’t narrated this. I found her overdramatic and difficult to listen to. I struggled to finish this book but I’m glad I did because the epilogue and postscript are the best parts of the book for me.
This is such an important story but it could have been shorter. I didn’t need to know what every character looked like and because there were so many characters this became repetitive. I know the author was trying to get the emotion and devastation across but what happened to these young women did this perfectly without the author overplaying it.
I’m glad I know what happened to these women and it was tragic and so sad.

Parts of this book were powerful and thought provoking. However some parts were too drawn out and predictable, whilst others were unbelievable. I didn’t like the narration. I found her without animation and a bit whiney.
I found the childrens characters most interesting, including Jack. The way Lydia felt she could hold the family together and stop her mother leaving again. Hannah trying to be unnoticed and hide away, when her parents ignore her anyway.
I suppose their are parents like Marilyn, totally obsessed with what they’ve missed out on and forcing this onto their children. She was detestable, totally selfish and controlling.
I gave this a 4 because despite the narration and slow parts, I did like what the author was trying to do and as I say, some parts of the book were powerful and gave a real insight into the characters.

Too drawn out!

This book had some brilliant reviews but boy was it long winded!
I found the narrators quite boring to be honest.
The storyline could have been good but it just took too long to get anywhere.
The friendships on the street were annoying too. I mean would you really go away on a girlie weekend with someone who slept with your husband?
The only reason I stuck with it was to find out how it all ended. It only got a 3 because it could have been very good if it had been half the length.
