Another failed attempt at learning French

The effort of putting an audible book like this together is brilliant (hence three stars) but the idea that 'French Made Easy' is misleading to me at least. I could count to 100 in French when I was 8 but that ability to take in French in an English speaking nation was impossible for me.

I have always said the only way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in the culture and move to say France, Corsica etc or perhaps marrying someone French with very poor English: good luck with that one!

Moving forwards: Two of my whacky 'learn French' ideas is that I would like to learn French through music reputation or wine ordering (perhaps this is just another excuse as to passing the buck of my failure at not succeed with this audible), I know a few French nursery rhymes (CD in car) thanks to having a baby (Couldn't stand the English ones going around and around in my head hour after hour!) . Perhaps a French book specialising in the ordering of wine from all parts of France and what to look for would be my idea of a good start - Funding could be provided by the French wine makers and supermarkets that sell them. Wouldn't it be nice to know the history of wine at the time to of ordering and speak in French with understanding whether in a restaurant or supermarket. That would be my motivation behind a gateway into the wider French Language. Oh what nonsense that all is.

For anyone who enjoys sailing and adventure this is a superb book to read although for anyone who is nautical through and through the references to navigational Charts which the author refers to as 'maps' does get annoying after a time. Maps are for land, Charts are for the sea!

What a lovely book - Middle class it is but a good listen to as well. Although I would recommend wearing gloves, as well as a Nitrile base layer - saves times scrubbing and gloves which are 'snip' resistant as your finger nails wont last long without them secuteurs. Trust me I work with gardeners all day and that Laurel Hedge - all 200 metres of it, can bite. Enjoy!
