i feel like she is shouting at me and very very preachy. i just want it to end. which is such a shame because the book sounds fantastic, i just can't listen to more than 30 seconds of the narrator without cringing.

The story was spoilt for me by the narration. The narrator was unable to build an atmosphere of suspense, as every sentence was emphasised indiscriminately. so it began to remind me of the Monty python sketch 'a minute passed' and the emphasis was laughable in parts. I found this distracting and really detracted from the storyline.

This was spoilt for me by Kate Winsletts disappointing narrative skills. her inability to give varying voices to the characters was irritating and the story was told in a flat monotone. It was a real disappointment.

Dreadful rendition, I love Dickens but had to give up after 20 minutes, I couldn't bear listening to this story being decimated any longer.

I really don't get the point of this book

I found this book disjointed and pointless. I forced myself to finish it, not sure why as it felt like torture.

It was OK, and I listened till the end, but it was no way a classic

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

not really satisfactory, I thought it fizzled out

The performance was fine, although the characters accents were not always consistent

I absolutely loved this enthralling account of 21 courageous women. Written and read with passion, we are led through a chronological journey of the women who challenged beliefs and fought for their rights. a wonderful listen.

This was a painful listen and the weak narration completely undermined any of the books' positive aspects. I was actually embarrassed to listen to this in public. I kept on to the end through perseverance but the story became increasingly ridiculous and the writing style was basic. This may be more suitable for a teenage market.
