A life changer

Overall
5 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 11-01-12

This book has changed my life. I have never believed in God, even when I was forced to go to Sunday school as a young child, it always seemed nonsense. This book gave me the backup, evidence and examples to reaffirm what I always thought. I suspect that this will be most useful to those who are in the "not sure" camp.

It is highly entertaining and would strongly recommend it.

Brilliant

This really is an excellent book, well narrated and I walked away with a significantly greater amount of knowledge regarding economic's than when I started. This book was pitched exactly at the right level for me and the key to making this book work is the examples and stories that are told throughout, which I think most people will be able to relate to, in their everyday lives.

If you have a passing interest in economic's and are looking for somewhere to start or to build on the
knowledge that you already have, then I would really recommend this truly entertaining book.

In fact, I would guess that even somebody with no interest in economic's would find something in this book. It makes you realise that economics affects everybody and is everywhere.

A bit of a struggle

I am very much into economics and finance, and was looking forward to this. However, I was very very disappointed with this one, and I just could not get into it. I admit that the problem here could be me, maybe I'm just not as bright or as knowledgeable on the subject as I thought. I suspect there probably is a good book in here, but I don't think this can be recommended for people who only have a limited understanding of the subject. Certainly not for beginners.

a good listen

I have read and listened to all Tony Hawks books, and this one is good. I absolutely loved his first two books, but felt things had gone off the boil with his previous book (One Hit Wonderland), but this one is as funny and entertaining as the first two. It is laugh out loud funny, and although it may not be as gripping as some of the other books that I read or listen to, it really is entertaining. Highly recommended.

Couldn't get into it

I just couldn't get into this, and found the humor a little bit put on. This is one of the very few, if not only audio books that I have bought and never actually finished listening to. I do enjoy British history and have listened to the entire series of "This Sceptered Isle".

From what I have listened two so far I should probably only give this one star, but I am determined to one day finish listening to this and I am sure it probably does get better, so have given it the benefit of the doubt with two stars. I will update this review, if I ever finish it!

I think everybody has their own favorite Bryson book and this one for me is one of my favorites.

A few people have complained about Bryson as the narrator on this but I actually think he does a good job with.

Even though my childhood was a good 25 years after Bryson, there are some fantastic nostalgic moments in this book that remind me of my own childhood, but the thing I like about this book the most is this is punctuated right the way through the book with some hilarious sub-story's which litterly make you laugh out loud, no matter where you are!

This book is amazing. The arguments are clear and well thought out. The narration by the author and his wife is really entertaining. I would really recommend this book to anybody with an open mind.
