Good enough story that kept my attention and i will be continuing with the next book in the series but particular mention must be made of the excellent narrator who moved between characters seamlessly. He really brought the story alive. Am about to investigate other books narrated by this person _ great job.

I am a sci fi and fantasy fan but decided to try this in a 2 for 1 deal as I also enjoy the occasional murder mystery. It was ok and entertained me through a few bouts of housework. Rather too many lucky clues and lucky escapes for the main characters for my liking but the murder part of the story was sufficiently unusual to keep my attention most of the time and the narration was competent. The culprit was identified well before the end of the book - so no mystery as far as that was concerned and no final twist - but the motive for the murders came much later. A couple of unconnected side story added some complexity to the story. Overall an enjoyable listen and better than many detective novels I have read but not one of the greats in my view. Nevertheless I have given 4 stars since I have made much worse choices when I have been tempted to take a chance on the 2 for 1 sele tion deaks.

A young adult fantasy with lots of tortured teenage romance. Not my usual listen, being far from my teenage years, but entertaining and a welcome break from my usual, bleak epic battle books. Performance very good.

More enjoyable than the first book in the series which was a poor copy of the lord of the rings plot. The second book has encouraged me to carry on with the series but am not a fan of the narrator who has an overly emotional, sing-song style that I find really annoying. Will take a break and listen to something by the excellent Simon Vance, Michael Kramer or Kate Reading.

Mills and Boon with some gory murders included. Not to my taste. Narrator did a reasonable job with mediocre material. Not sure what kind of reader would enjoy this book. Not enough lingering glances and heaving bosoms for the romance lovers,, not enough suspense and intrigue for those that like a good crime novel , not enough depth of character and certainly not a literary great. Sort of book that could be rattled off in a week! Simple plot with predictable outcome.

Not my usual genre but purchased on a 2 for 1 credit deal so thought I would try something different. Deaver obviously has a very large and enthusiastic fan base and I had enjoyed the film version of the bone collector. The performance was excellent and the wonderful voice of Jeff Harding kept me listening to about chapter 50 and then I started skipping through to the predictable ending. The intricate plot was unconvincing and the characters 2 dimensional. I will not be returning to Deaver .

Not my usual genre but purchased on a whim from an audible 2 for 1 credit offer and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A story in a story providing the listener with two who done its in one book. The performance was excellent and it kept me entertained until the very end. Very pleased I gave it a go.

Enjoyed the book but it lacked the depth and richness of Harry Potter and the excitement of the Shadow Hunter stories. Nevertheless I was sufficiently entertained to move on to the next in the series.
