Although i’ve never had an interest in the occult, i find the stories fascinating. Together with the DeRichleau being one of the best characters ever written, this is a great choice. I enjoyed it equally as Forbidden Territory, and the Devil rides out. The language the characters use is immensely enjoyable to listen too.

Dennis Wheatley’s first published novel, introducing his modern trinity of musketeers in the epicurean Duc de Richleau, financier Simon Aron, and the wealthy young American, Rex Van Ryn. The Duc receives a coded message from his missing friend Van Ryn who, while hunting for treasure lost during the Soviet takeover of Russia, is now in prison somewhere in that vast country. Along with the Duc, good friends Simon Aron and Richard Eaton set off on a secret mission to secure his escape.

Excellent, full on rip roaring adventure story. Excellently read, although Valeria Petrovna’s accent made me laugh at times. This story has friendship at its heart. The manner of the characters is so refreshing, the Duke is my favourite. The author writes suspense very well and in an audio format at times it’s absolutely heart stopping. Specially recommended by me. Ill listen again and again as the language always goes one step further. A total joy.
