The stories were interesting but they felt a bit flat without the pictures. Maybe if you have a physical copy you could look at the illustrations while you listen.

Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment and Warner Bros are set to bring YA sci-fi novel Illuminae to the big screen. The year is 2575, and two megacorporations are at war over a planet that's little more than an ice-covered speck. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Ezra and Kady have to make their escape on the evacuating fleet. But their troubles are just beginning.

Thrilling twisty space adventure.
I recommend listening to this whilst reading the book to get the full effect of the graphics.
The swearing is dubbed but it’s still obvious what is being said.

It was so lovely to discover all the wonderful Wombleful characters again. The story follows Bungo's first year as a working Womble.
The stories are written so well that even as an adult I enjoyed them all.

Welcome to Caraval, where nothing is quite what it seems. Scarlett has never left the tiny isle of Trisda, pining from afar for the wonder of Caraval, a once-a-year weeklong performance where the audience participates in the show. Caraval is magic. Mystery. Adventure. And for Scarlett and her beloved sister, Tella, it represents freedom and an escape from their ruthless, abusive father. When the sisters' long-awaited invitations to Caraval finally arrive, it seems their dreams have come true.

A thousand years ago evil came to the land and has ruled with an iron hand ever since. The sun shines fitfully under clouds of ash that float down endlessly from the constant eruption of volcanoes. A dark lord rules through the aristocratic families, and ordinary folk are condemned to lives in servitude, sold as goods, labouring in the ash fields. But now a troublemaker has arrived, and there is rumour of revolt.

I found the world and the magic system interesting and by about halfway in, it grabbed my emotions and got more and more intense to the end. It's a fairly long read for me but I listened on 1.5 speed which cut the time down to 16 hours instead of 24, making it less daunting.
