Don't start the series unless you are happy for a drastically changed narrater half way through!

I enjoyed Books 1-10. I bought books 11 and 12 but could not cope with the narration. I had to return them. I wish I had known before starting the series as I would have seriously considered not starting it at all. I hate leaving a series part way through.

Book 11 (and onwards I presume) the narration is horrendous. Dave (one of the key characters throughout0 sounds like a lobotomised imbecile; all the girls sound like transvestites and any posh accents now sound like chavs??? It's like a totally new line of characters. At the very least the new narrater could have listened to the way Dan Morgan performed and done something similar. For me it is a lesson learned and when looking at a long series of books in the future I will double check the continuity!

It is the morning after the storm. Thick fog covers everything. In the stifling, claustrophobic atmosphere, Howie and his group head out for supplies. Skirmishes and tense fights take place and there are messages left in blood at key sites: 'he's coming'. As the day progresses, Howie becomes increasingly darker in thought, and more demanding of his team. By the end of the day they have discovered a munitions factory, but can Howie hold it together?

How disappointing! Been listening to the whole series and then the narrator changes. It’s like all the characters have changed! You lose continuity and the feeling of affinity to the characters. Ummm! Struggling with my disappointment. Not that the new narrator is bad, just different! Too different!

Perhaps the most influential science book ever written, On the Origin of Species has continued to fascinate for more than a century after its initial publication. Its controversial theory that populations evolve and adapt through a process known as natural selection led to heated scientific, philosophical, and religious debate, revolutionizing every discipline in its wake. With its clear, concise, and surprisingly enjoyable prose, On the Origin of Species is both captivating and edifying.

Abandoned by other international leaders, Jack Ryan alone counters the threat posed by Russian president Valeri Volodin. This isn't the first time that the dictator has threatened world peace, but this time he's playing a very nuanced game, moving chess pieces around the board while isolating Ryan from the rest of the international community. Fortunately, Jack Ryan, Jr. and the rest of his Campus team find themselves in the middle of action with a vital clue to the Russian's intentions.

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

Macho teenager with no taste.

What could Lee Child have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Tone down jack reacher and find a new narrator.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Ithe narrator was so bad I couldn't listen for more than 10 minutes. Tried twice just in case it was my mood. It wasnt.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Night School?

Jack Reacher, Lee Child and especially the narrator made this book impossible to listen to. A great pity because I've loved most of the books up to this point! I'm not sure an editor could save it. I'll have to find another hero to follow!

Any additional comments?

Couldn't comment properly because I couldn't get past the first chapter!

If you'd like to double, triple or even quadruple your ability to learn Italian vocabulary by using simple memory techniques that you can learn in 30 minutes or less, then this may be the most important audiobook that you will ever listen to. Believe it or not, it really doesn't matter if you think you have a good memory or not. Frankly, if you can memorize a short email address or the name of a movie, then you can use this system to memorize a language as rich and diverse as Italian.

Would you try another book written by Anthony Metivier or narrated by Angelo Di Loreto?

No to first question . Possibly to second.

What was most disappointing about Anthony Metivier’s story?

I thought the book would have Italian vocabulary within it but it was all about improving memory and remembering vocabulary. Other than the occasional reference to 'learning Italian' this could be a book about memorising anything.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Narrator was good

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No

Any additional comments?

If you are looking for Italian vocabulary, look elsewhere. The preview is replicated throughout the book. There is nothing more!

What would have made The Bootlegger better?

add a little excitement in both the reading and the story. Not the usual Dirk Pitt hero. In fact who is the hero. Got through about 2 hours and still not sure. Was it really Bell?

What could Clive Cussler and Justin Scott have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Give me a character to hook on to.

How could the performance have been better?

Was just a bit flat.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Any additional comments?

Just disappointed. I really like the usual Clive Cussler and this did not fit that bill.
