I kept waiting for this story to grip me but it never did. I found little in it to surprise me, although there were some interesting devices.

I think the narration didn't really help - the female voices were just a bit weird.

I didn't Not enjoy it but wouldn't recommend it either - a good idea that could have been great

In 2009 Malala Yousafzai began writing a blog on BBC Urdu about life in the Swat Valley as the Taliban gained control, at times banning girls from attending school. When her identity was discovered, Malala began to appear in both Pakistani and international media, advocating the freedom to pursue education for all. In October 2012, gunmen boarded Malala's school bus and shot her in the face, a bullet passing through her head and into her shoulder. Remarkably, Malala survived the shooting. At a very young age, Malala Yousafzai has become a worldwide symbol of courage and hope.

To the consternation of the patrician, Lord Vetinari, a new invention has arrived in Ankh-Morpork - a great clanging monster of a machine that harnesses the power of all of the elements: earth, air, fire and water. This being Ankh-Morpork, it’s soon drawing astonished crowds, some of whom caught the zeitgeist early and arrive armed with notepads and very sensible rainwear.

What made the experience of listening to Raising Steam the most enjoyable?

This novel brought together some favourite characters - Moist, Vimes, the dwarves and some unanswered questions from Thud, Making Money and weaves it together in a fun, action packed story. Also continues the new meta story started in Snuff.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It's hard to chose as all the favourites are featured. For me Drumknott has a lovely arc and some great comedy.

What about Stephen Briggs’s performance did you like?

Stephen has long been involved with Sir Terry and his familiarity and affection shine through. He brings characteristics to life with appropriate accents and a good pace.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Dancing on the roof of the train.... Sheer joy!

Any additional comments?

While possibly not the best discworld novel this is a fine addition to the series.

Fab story audio quality mixed

This a great story - aimed at younger readers but still witty enough for adults. Narration is great but the audio quality is mixed - I had to adjust the volume often. This follows on from the wee free men so the adventure of Tiffany aching continues. There is the usual magic and mayhem, weird old witches, and interesting observations on teenage girls. This is one I can listen to multiple times.

I loved the content of this. Lots of easy to apply tips and concepts. Loved hearing Jillian lay it all out. The book requires you to commit to doing tasks and to note down and count which one you'll do. Foe me this was hard to do as I listen to books out and about and it's hard to flip back to check details.
