This book requires real concentration. The constant shifts in timelines and personas can make this a somewhat taxing listen. It is as much a philosophical dissertation on what it means to exists and be alive as a story, skipping as it does between sentient Octopii, Spiders, Virus and the memories of long dead humans. The first in the series was far better.

However the beautiful narration and the moments where the narrative resolves to some conclusion made the effort enjoyable and I would almost certainly pick up the next in the series (if there is one?).

A fantastic end to a superb series.

What a wonderful way to end this enthralling series, battling in core of the world I'm going to miss the tales of Arlan Bales and this beautifully drawn world.

I have not enjoyed an Audiobook as much as this one in a long time. It is a wonderfully imagined world of fascinating characters and beautiful narrative. A medieval world where demons emerge from the ground every night and people cower behind barely understood magical wards.

slow and uninteresting.

Sadly this series has lost its way. Bogged In political intrigue and sycophancy for the main character.

The Democracy's Might series is possibly the best of Christopher Nuttal's work. Fresh and exciting, this book builds brilliantly on the first.

Whilst following the well tried and trusted formula of maverick captain saves the Galaxy it is beautifully executed. The Narrator is superb and the story flows so easily.

I've found my new favourite space sci-fi, move over B.V.Larson. It's only the second book in the series but I already know I have no choice but to read the rest. Original, surprising and beautifully read.

This beautifully crafted story is well worthy of the accolades it has received. The tale is fascinating and thought provoking. Touching as is does on man's relationship with nature, each other and time.
