I was really looking forward to this book. I managed an hour, and learned several interesting facts, but the narration killed it for me. Laras voice just drones on and on with no emotion and doesn't manage to engage my interest at all. I truly believe authors should never narrate their own work, leave it to the professionals, that's why they get the big bucks. Greatly disappointed, but will return it.

Returned it.

This is the first Bryson I have tried listening to. I know he is very popular, but I got fed up with him making fun of the Australian people. Three hours in and I just got so cross with him, I gave up.
Also the volume of this book is awful, through the app. With speakers and phone up full still struggled to hear it. Converting it, using a different app, and the problem disappears, proving it to be a problem with the Audible app, not the file. Not the first time I have found this problem.

This pairing can do no wrong in my ears. Excellent story based around the true story of the Stealing of Aborigine Children by the Australian government.

Big Mistake on my part.

I thought this was going to be really funny. It was not. Could be offensive to some.

Nice to find something a little different. The narration is superb, no difficult distinguishing each character, and the accents are excellent. Will look for more by this narrator.

I had never read Linda Green before, but everything about this book is recommended. The characters really came to life, thanks to the excellent narration. I finished it less than 12 hours after purchase, just couldn't stop listening, and have bought 2 more by this author since.

I did not get on with this book. The synopsis sounded like something I would really enjoy, but the narrator droned on and on in such a miserable fashion I could not concentrate on the story she was attempting to tell. I did not get far into it before giving up.

Love Joanne..in Downton and as an audiobook reader. She gets better and better. Bit disappointed that she didn't talk more about herself, rather than the books.

first audiobooks I have listened to with multiple readers. I will be looking for more.
I found the book very entertaining, but complicated. I usually do other things while listening, but this took my full attention, or I became totally lost. much rewinding. Well worth it though, will try the next in the series.
Very well performed, you can't say read, by all the readers, but the attempted at stuttering from one character was a bit irritating, as if a blank space had been added after the production, rather than the reader doing it. This does not detract from the whole book though.
Highly recommended if you have time to concentrate on it.
