When the local vampire coven hires him to stop an undead outbreak at the city graveyard, it sounds like money in the bank to everyone's favorite down on his luck druid, Colin McCool. But when you're cursed by an ancient fae sorceress with a score to settle, nothing is ever as it seems. Colin McCool here, otherwise known as the Junkyard Druid. Not my favorite title, but since it's my only title I guess I'm stuck with it. Seeing as how I've been dragged back into the world of the fae, I figure I may as well be of use.

Take one wizard - that's me - add a hot female vampire, give them a nice place in the country and what do you get? Paradise. Heaven on earth. So, of course, someone decided to go spoil it. No, it wasn't me, not this time. The Hidden world is in chaos, and apparently I'm the one that's supposed to deal with it! Smart trolls, even smarter vampires - and not the nice ones like Kate - witches on the rampage, inebriated gremlins, and imps intent on causing nuclear Armageddon, they have all combined to ruin my perfect life.

Suspicious deaths are not usually the concern of PC Peter Grant or the Folly, even when they happen at an exclusive party in one of the most expensive apartment blocks in London. But Lady Ty's daughter was there, and Peter owes Lady Ty a favour. Plunged into the alien world of the super-rich, where the basements are bigger than the house and dangerous, arcane items are bought and sold on the open market, a sensible young copper would keep his head down and his nose clean. But this is Peter Grant we're talking about.

Black magic gets a bad rap. Trust me. When people see me, they don't see Cisco Suarez, they see a rogue. A shadow charmer. A black magic outlaw. Maybe they're right. Maybe everything I touch withers and dies. But that doesn't give the SWAT team a right to come in with guns blazing.

It's hard enough for Alastair Stone to keep his two lives - powerful mage and mundane Occult Studies professor - separate without an old friend asking him to take on a new apprentice. Especially after a university colleague wants him to investigate a massive old house for things that go bump in the night. Still, Stone figures it's an easy job: just turn up, put on a little show, and announce that the house is clean. Only it isn't. A malevolent spirit is reawakening in the basement.

Scranton, the strangest city on earth has an uneasy “live and let unlive” relationship with the supernatural. But when a vamp puts the bite on an unwilling victim, or some witch casts the wrong kind of spell, that’s when they call me. “My name’s Markowski, a Detective Sergeant on the Scranton PD’s Supernatural Crimes Investigation Unit. A fantastic story, it mixes the the urban fantasy with the crime detective novel and adds comedy. The story line keeps you interested to the end, with all the twists and turns you would expect from a detective story. The author also allows the character to grow on you! Stan reminded me of Harry Dresden but with a real detectives brain and no magic!
