Not as good as the first series, but still an enjoyable read. Though, the narrator of this one is the worst in the series. And I rather hoped the one who read the last book would read this one as she wasn't bad, and since the series is more focused on Valkyrie than anyone else as she grows and becomes independent a woman narrator sounded better.

Anyway, the worse thing about the series so far is Valkyrie's characterisation. It's not the same, not even remotely. She's become too much like Harry Potter, brooding and moping about things she can't change.

And during the beginning book it was hinting at a Valkyrie/Militsa relationship (as more than friends), but then never returned to it. But hopefully the next book will get further into it.

As a side note I would like to know how this series, from book one can get a kids book rating. There's much too much murder and gore for it to be a 9+.

Still much too long, and the way they talk to each other is much too... clever. It could have done with dumbing down to make them seem more normal.

Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.

The story is much too drawn out. I'm kind of scared at the thought of book 4 as that is over 60 hours long. But I'm going to continue reading/listening. I would hate to actually have to read the books because it felt like they wouldn't be that well written in actual words. Though, I hate the narrator as he speaks so slowly and blandly with no excitement or enjoyment in anything, which made him sound boring.

The story is third person with a huge first person flare. I felt it would have done better in first person if not for the continued jump in perspective and countless characters.

Its drawn out too much with mundane things, and the big-bads at the end had no foreshadowing, or did, but the long-winded stretch of tediousness made anything like that instantly missed.

Of the main 5 characters I liked them all except for Nick as I felt he was badly written and too Stu like without any likeable qualities.

My favourite characters had to be Thomas, Claudia (I think that's the healer girl's name, she wasn't in it much), and Vince.

I would only really recommend if you have some spare time and nothing else you're interested in reading and love superheroes. More so if you have Prime Reading. You can get the eBook for free and then only pay £2.99 for this audiobook.

Over all the slow moving plot and terribly tedious narrator let this book down a lot. His voice is just so boring and unenthused. If the narrator doesn't invest in the story they sound bored and uninterested, and that can ruin even the greatest of books.

We were prepared for an earthquake. We had a flood plan in place. We could even have dealt with zombies. Probably. But no one expected the end to be quite so…sticky…or strawberry scented. Yahtzee Croshaw ( Mogworld, Zero Punctuation Reviews) returns to audiobooks with a follow-up to his smash-hit debut: Jam, a dark comedy about the one apocalypse no one predicted.

I love this story. Yahtzee is a freaking awesome author and theres just something about his voice. The way he voices his characters that is just so... amusing and fun that it adds so much to the comedy that I can't imagine reading the Kindle without it losing something. I've already read the Save the Galaxy for Food book (well listened) so next I think I'll try Jam.

Though, one final note. This audiobook doesn't seem to have been recorded in a proper studeo so you get a little background static and some completely silent pauses between cuts, but it's not distracting once through the first several minutes as you'll be lost on his amusing adventure with Jim and Merrell and hardly notice.

I would certainly recommend to everyone that they read this and his other audiobooks.

I rather enjoyed this. It was really good and rather well performed. I'm not normally into space books that aren't comedy's as they can be much too complicated and 'smart' (in other words written by some guy who wants to show how clever he can be without realising he's being stupid by making everything boring). But this was great. I really enjoyed it.
