It was great to revisit some of the old characters. Nate was sorely missed, until the very endand, I hope he comes back in force soon. I found the Naration to be some what lacking in this book and not as good as the Helaquin saga hence the four stars. If you enjoyed the previous books then I'm sure you will enjoy this one.

The year is 2108, and the North American Commonwealth is bursting at the seams. For welfare rats like Andrew Grayson, there are only two ways out of the crime-ridden and filthy welfare tenements, where you’re restricted to 2,000 calories of badly flavored soy every day. You can hope to win the lottery and draw a ticket on a colony ship settling off-world, or you can join the service. With the colony lottery a pipe dream, Andrew chooses to enlist in the armed forces for a shot at real food, a retirement bonus, and maybe a ticket off Earth.

The story follows the life of a guy from the welfare state who signs up. I found the story quite entertaining although it did jump forward from time to time. I am going to listening to the next book now so on that basis I mark the book as a decent listen. The narration was good and pretty easy to listen to.

The series was very slow to start and the naration left a lot to be desired. Having said that the build from book one to the end of book there was excellently written. The story becomes gripping after about chapter 5 of book one so if you can get past that stage your onto a winner. By book 3 your aching to hear more. would def recommend for fantasy lovers. My advice is try to put up with the slow start and dodgy naration and your in for a great story.

My name is Alice Long, and I've always known I was different. When I was little I used to climb up to the highest branches of the housetree at night, and watch the starships docking at the orbital stations high above. Forty meters off the ground, watching ships 30,000 kilometers overhead, with senses that could pick out radar pings and comm chatter as easily as the ships themselves. It all seemed perfectly natural at the time.
