Young and innocent, Julia Ellis has no idea what awaits her at the manor, where she is to become the nanny for Mr. Jonas Fairbanks, a ruthless, yet devastatingly handsome entrepreneur. Julia's only plan is to earn enough money to fund her studies of French cuisine in Paris. Julia falls in love with little Sidney, the 10-year-old daughter of Jonas, but can't help noticing the peculiar way the towns people talk of the little girl. An omen. The devil's spawn. Sidney is not the only young girl who will be groomed at the home of Mr. Fairbanks. What was taught as sinful, now, clouds her moral judgment of right and wrong. Julia fights with her innocence, giving into lust and a world all new to her.

The book started off really slow, and I had no idea where it was going with all the religious talk.
I think a lot of it was strung out a little too much, but I like the twists that finally came.

I have a secret. A secret that chased me away from my home, my family, away from the only man I've ever loved. I took that secret and pushed it down inside of me.So far down, that it never had a chance of coming out. That dirty little secret was like a seed. A seed that took root and grew to become a piece of me. But what happens when that secret has finally outgrown me? When its vines climb over every wall I have in place? When it finally overfills that little spot inside of me that it's been buried in for so long now? All secrets come out eventually.

I couldn't stop laughing, especially when 'Christian' was doing Ana's voice.
I thought this story would be better in his POV, but it really wasn't.

I've spent my entire adult life avoiding dating, which is funny because I work for a matchmaking service. My boss calls me "The Beast" because of my no B.S. attitude. My job is to scare away problem clients - the unmatchables. In waltzes Mister Alfred Barnes. He's stuck up, brazen, and mouthwateringly gorgeous. Guys like him think they own the world, but in here I'm in charge. Kicking him out of my office is one of my greatest pleasures...until I find out that he totally lied about his identity.

While I absolutely loved the first part of the book, but the second part seemed to slow right down.
Ember was like two different people. On the outside—to strangers—she was straightforward with a no-nonsense attitude. On the inside, she was a nervous wreck with low-self esteem, especially when it came to her personal life. I completely understand this. Who would want others to see their broken self? Nobody. People put up barriers to keep people from finding out the truth; that they're not as strong as they would have you believe.
Colton was a good character. He wanted to stand by Ember and her self-destructive view of herself. He was kind and all the way through, though I thought the way he was'pervy' to her was a little inappropriate, considering what she'd been through. He was also quick to try to get her into a sexual situation, even though she said she wasn't ready.
What I found odd, was that Ember wasn't put off, and instead played along as though she liked it.

Overall, I felt the blurb didn't quite match the story, but I thought it was a decent read. Slow after the halfway point, but good.

I received an audiobook version for an honest review.

It should have been easy. I needed the money. He needed a babysitter to keep him from snorting himself to death. I was cherry-picked especially for him. Responsible. Optimistic. Warm. Innocent. The worst part is that I should have known better. Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes. “Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He’ll chew you up and spit you out.” Guess what? I didn’t listen. I signed the contract. World tour. Three months. Four Continents. 100 shows. My name is Indigo Bellamy, and I sold my soul to a tattooed god.

They call him The Mute for a reason. Hard, cold, and calculated, he rarely speaks. When he does, it's with disdain. When he does, his words aren't meant for me. When he does, my stomach flips and my world tilts on its axis. He is 33. I am 18. He's a single dad and my father's business partner. I'm just a kid to him and his enemy's daughter. He's emotionally unavailable. And I am...feeling. Feeling things I shouldn't feel for him. Trent Rexroth is going to break my heart. The writing isn't just on the wall, it's inked on my soul.

I’ve listened to audio books before, and never finished because I got bored.
This one, however, gripped my attention like a vice.
The narrators were excellent at portraying the characters and injecting the emotions into theirs voice that I could’ve believed they were them.

The story was great, too.
This was my first book by this author, and I loved it.
Edi’s and Trent’s relationship was both volatile and explosive, their personalities clashing at every turn. But when they dropped their tough exteriors, their deep scars were bared.
At first, I was sceptical about the age difference, but LJ Shen made it work effortlessly, and I found that I was rooting for them to get together.

A fantastic story, and would recommend this book.
