A very good review of what happened in Guernsey- my dad told me if a French lady got pregnant by a German soldier they dragged her to the centre of the village and publicly shaved her head - heartbreaking.
I found the lady reading it a bit precocious - like the listener was being told off all the time - also I have noticed that homosexuality gets popped in to a lot of modern literature or movies as if it needs to be politically correct- in these days it was illegal so to put it in letters or just it drop it into conversation was a bit unrealistic - I think it would have been hushed up for fear of being found out - that’s sad and for the author have come at it from that angle might have been a bit more honest about the times they lived in

Beautifully done, well worth a listen, loved that it got slightly haunting with the third ghost
