As they exchange letters, she is drawn into the eccentric world of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which boasts a charming cast of characters, from pig farmers to phrenologists, literature lovers all. A very good review of what happened in Guernsey- my dad told me if a French lady got pregnant by a German soldier they dragged her to the centre of the village and publicly shaved her head - heartbreaking.
I found the lady reading it a bit precocious - like the listener was being told off all the time - also I have noticed that homosexuality gets popped in to a lot of modern literature or movies as if it needs to be politically correct- in these days it was illegal so to put it in letters or just it drop it into conversation was a bit unrealistic - I think it would have been hushed up for fear of being found out - that’s sad and for the author have come at it from that angle might have been a bit more honest about the times they lived in

'If I had my way, every idiot who goes around with Merry Christmas on his lips, would be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart. Merry Christmas? Bah humbug!' Charles Dickens’ ghostly tale of sour and stingy miser Ebenezer Scrooge has captivated readers, listeners and audiences for over 150 years. This Christmas, Audible Studios brings this story to life in an audio drama featuring an all-star cast.

Beautifully done, well worth a listen, loved that it got slightly haunting with the third ghost
