Ashe Smoldris is on the prowl for his next conquest at the casino. Its here he finds the older ladies who are happy to part with their jewels for a night with the strikingly handsome man. He is distracted by the sudden appearance of a naive young woman who manages to lose at cards and is being threatened into slavery. Ashe feels compelled to help her fighting the Lords and guards to help her escape her fate. This starts Juleka’s obsession with Ashe, she vows to help him which leads him onto a different path that that he envisioned for himself. I totally loved this adventure, so much happens, we really get to know Ashe and the friends he makes along the way. KuroKoneko Kamen really knows how to ratchet up the tension only she can create a hero with erectile dysfunction who likes sewing but can beat any opponent with his Glass sword . The world of Fantasia is fascinating, and I know we have only just scraped the surface. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this story. Justine has called in a finance company in a last ditch attempt to save her family paper, but ends up facing the past she has tried to forget these last fifteen years. This story is as steamy and lush as the Florida setting, the off the scale pull between Rafael and Justine threads through the narrative as they fight to overcome their past. I found it to be thrilling and gripping. I voluntarily listened and reviewed an advanced copy of this story. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Henrietta has always loved Oliver who lives on the neighbouring estate, they played together until he had to leave for boarding and school and her for finishing school. Many years later their paths cross and she is hoping he will return her affections. However, Oliver and all the other eligible gentlemen seem more interested in Miss Mysterious who has suddenly appeared on the scene wearing a stunning mask. Gentle story set in Victorian times. We return to Oz to catch up with Theodore Gale, who is totally loving his favourite Kansas pastimes in the Emerald city, but they are interrupted by an attack from a giant robot which results in the kidnapping of his mother, Ozlyn. Theo persuades The Wicked Wizard of the West to help him with a rescue plan. The story line is varied and interesting with nuggets of earth story parallels. I totally loved these Oz stories; Jaden is the perfect anti-hero, who doesn’t love a bit of Wicked? KuroKoneko Kamen is perfect at setting the scene and allowing the reader to really get to know the characters she really knows how to explore and challenge a stereotype. Theodore Gale is a lover not a killer, he finds himself transported to the strange land of Oz where people think he is the foretold saviour of Oz. He’s not so sure about that, but his barn did land on the wicked Wizard of the East, the infamous Dr Doppelganger, resulting in him acquiring a ruby gauntlet with anti-magic powers. His past experience of bar brawls seems to be ideal experience in navigating past enemies and saving enslaved denizens. Gale’s friendly and easy-going nature is what sets him apart as he refuses to be manipulated into doing others dirty work for them, resulting in him making friends with those he rescued along the way. I loved the tropes running through the story, there are echoes of the original story threaded through with novel, interesting and amusing ideas. All described in KuroKoneko Kamen’s colourful and detailed style. I voluntarily listened and reviewed an advanced copy of this story. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Eirwen Darling, is the grandson of the author who first described Never Never Land and his adventures all those years ago. He is sad as he can’t beat the illness that threatens to take him away from his beloved little sisters. They are suddenly catapulted into the strange world of Petra Pan and find all is not well there.
I knew I was going to love this book as soon as KuroKoneko Kamen described Petra Pan, she has a fantastic talent for describing everything in glorious detail and I was so looking forward to hearing her take on Never Never Land, it didn’t disappoint. When I started this book I was a bit worried it was going to be too predictable but as Belle turned up at the yeti’s mansion things began to get interesting. We find out about how Abigail was cursed and also Bellamy’s story. The setting sounded beautiful, a kaleidoscope of sparkling gemstones set against the snowy forests of Alaska. Enjoyable.

We return to wonderland to catch up with the King of Hearts, Crimson, who has been manipulated by his wicked mother resulting in him being unable to remember his feelings for Cheshire Cat slave, Katrina, who has been placed in an enchanted sleep by Sorcerer Maleficent. The evil enchantress wants to rule again and has initiated a wicked plan for it to be forever night, allowing her daughter’s army of underworld warriors to take over. I totally love the world created by KuroKoneko Kamen and have started investigating her other titles. She has an amazing imagination and her stories are so detailed and descriptive that its difficult not to imagine everything in glorious technicolour. Alister Kingsley has had a horrific childhood which he escapes from by painting fanciful pictures of Wonderland. His paintings become sought after but his fame and fortune cannot help his fear. He is scared of everything especially women. He is suddenly plunged into the mad world of his imagination when he follows the white rabbit down the hole. It’s difficult not to write in cliches but KuroKoneko has managed to create a brighter 3D sparkier version of Wonderland. The descriptions are rich and detailed. I was wishing this was a picture book. It was fun but not too sweet. The perfect balance. I really loved this and plan to read more of her stories, I need to know what happens to Crim and Katrina. Daisy is pretty on top of her life being a tour guide for Sutton’s travel plus running a successful travel blog. She’s less successful with the men she picks so has decided to keep away for a while until bumping into Kyle Kingston whilst snapping pics for her blog. Here ensues the moment that will dramatically change her life.
I’ve been waiting for this book for a while, ever since I read Violet’s story in ‘Sure Thing’ I wondered what was happening with her twin sister Daisy. Daisy was always the impetuous wild twin compared to Violet, who was always the good twin planning her life and not breaking the rules. Well this didn’t disappoint but don’t worry they run simultaneously so it doesn’t matter which order you read them in. Jana I totally love your books and can’t wait for the next one!
