As the daughter of a famed author, Isolde Ophelia Goodnight grew up on tales of brave knights and fair maidens. She never doubted romance would be in her future, too. The storybooks offered endless possibilities. And as she grew older, Izzy crossed them off. One by one by one....Now Izzy's given up yearning for romance. She'll settle for a roof over her head. What fairy tales are left over for an impoverished 26-year-old woman who's never even been kissed?

Mack might be, to all intents and purposes, a normal looking human, but she lives with a pack of shapeshifters in Cornwall in rural England after being dumped there by her mother when she was just a young child. She desperately wants to be accepted by her surrogate family, not least because a lot of them hate her for merely being human, but for some reason her blood just won't allow the transformation to occur.

I tried really hard to like this book and I had thought I had found a replacement for the Kate Daniels series but lord the book missed the mark big time. The story line read as if it would be really good but I have to say the Heroine was just beyond annoying - talk about crappy attitude - there was nothing to like about her. She was bloody miserable all the time with her friends, with her pack and her woe is me and my human life living with the pack attitude was just idiotic!! I unfortunately downloaded the second book thinking it would be really good series but I actually can’t bring myself to listen to it. What a complete waste! Seriously don’t bother

I really wanted to like this book as I have been struggling to find a really good PNR book to listen to for a while after listening/reading Nalini Singh and Ilona Andrews and after reading reviews I thought here is a good one...how wrong was I!!! The heroine is beyond annoying and whiney. Nearly Half of the book the H and H don’t even talk it’s all about hand signs etc and lord when they do manage to talk he sounds like he is some cave man with limited intelligence.

Now I don’t mind any major sexual scenes but lord this was again like a soft porn of “me Tarzan you Jane”

Couldn’t finish the book - a wasted credit so don’t waste your credit or money!

Painfully shy Jane Huxley is the furthest thing from a diamond of the first water. Bookish, bespectacled, and, well, plain, she never expected to befriend a dissolute charmer like Colin Lacey, much less agree to help him retrieve a lost family heirloom. Fortunately, he is nothing like his cold, rigid older brother. Unfortunately, he is not above deception if it means winning a wager. And that puts Jane in a most precarious position. For Harrison Lacey, the Duke of Blackmore, protecting his family honor is not a choice, it is a necessity.

1870. A time known as The Great Killing. The vampire clans arose and slaughtered humanity with unprecedented carnage in the northern parts of the world. Millions perished; millions were turned into herd animals. The great industrialized civilizations of the world were left in ruin. A remnant fled south to the safety of the ever present heat which was intolerable to vampires. There, blending with the local peoples, they rebuilt their societies founded on human ingenuity, steam and iron.
