Dead bodies are piling up for Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniel. Usually when a serial killer is on the loose, the pressure would be building to find the perpetrator, but the victims are all hardened criminals themselves. The national media can't believe their luck with an apparent vigilante on the streets while Jessica's new boss seems grateful someone else is doing their job for them. But things aren't so straightforward when forensics matches blood from the apparent killer to a man already behind bars.

I persevered with this book as the story just won out over the lacklustre narration.
The story is good & has a good plot & that kept me going to the end which I’m glad I managed.
As for the narration, it was too lacking in anger & disappointment when needed overall it was too nicey nicey for me.
Worth a go...

Story was fast & complex with many twists that were not always predictable which I found very intriguing “where is it going next”.

Great listen thoroughly enjoyed it!

When a body is found in a locked house, Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniel is left to not only find the killer but discover how they got in and out. With little in the way of leads and a journalist who seems to know more about the case than she does, Jessica is already feeling the pressure - and that's before a second body shows up in identical circumstances to the first. How can a murderer get to victims in seemingly impossible situations and what, if anything, links the bodies?

Really didn’t get on with the narration, voice is too sugary & nice for a crime drama it didn’t work for me at all. The crime scenes I’m sure would have been horrific the narration for me made it sound like a bad paper cut!
Good story, nice twist at the end but it needs a gritty narrator who can do a greater range of voices & be able to get into the scene!

Overall disappointed.

Just love this series, Bosch is a great character & one I think most people will easily relate to, that said his methods will be questionable to some.
Great writing as usual & a twist I didn’t see coming towards the end although I did guess the perpetrator this time.
Fab book, great narration GET IT!

I give every book I listen to respect as the author has made a conscious decision to write it & will listen to the end.

This book is full of short story type missions that becomes a boring repeat of the previous assignment pretty much written the same way...I therefore don’t recommend this I found it boring...
The message is good & at the end clear & political but didn’t make for good reading/listening.

Best book of the last year by a distance...

Plot, storyline, characters, depth of the story masterfully written & very well narrated with a gravitas to the main characters that’s was truly brilliant. I had read a review that nearly turned me from the book that said the accents in the narration were poor...NONSENSE..yes the odd sentence it may have slipped a few points but if you’re listening intently to the story it’s not worth a mention!

Brilliant just do it!

For LAPD homicide cop Harry Bosch - hero, maverick, nighthawk - the body in the drainpipe at Mulholland Dam is more than another anonymous statistic. This one is personal. The dead man, Billy Meadows, was a fellow Vietnam "tunnel rat" who fought side by side with him in a nightmare underground war that brought them to the depths of hell.

This is another great piece of writing with a storyline to match “not quite” as good as other Hurwitz but a worthwhile listen.
I say this as towards the conclusion it did have a faint lumbering feel like you knew where it was going but dragging its feet a bit, however I am a fusspot for conclusions & possibly being over picky because it’s Hurwitz!
