Wencke Johanne Braathen was born in Oslo, Norway. She came to the Midwest as a student of meditation and philosophy giving her personal experience in transcendence along with a language to express it with. She graduated with a BA in Art gaining insight in the symbology used in Medieval art and architecture. She lives in Chicago and writes about historical figures who shaped our culture, but whose deeper truth have been intentionally hidden in forgotten vaults and lost under historical dust. Questioning the teachings of the church, convinced that the Bible must be missing some chapters about the most fascinating woman in history, Wencke Braathen dedicated herself to write her story. Through years of research, time spent traveling, personal studies of her own inner experiences, intense hours of writing, the story emerged. Mary Magdalene is the most popular Biblical figure in art often depicted with certain symbolic objects. In the paintings, the book told of her learning, the candle told us she was enlightened, the alabaster jar said she was an expert herbalist. But the skull was puzzling. The book "Rituals in Sacred Stone" will give you answers as it expands the well known stories of Yeshua and Mariam.
