Victoria Strauss is a novelist, blogger, gardener, and scam hunter.

She's the author of nine novels for adults and young adults, includingThe Arm of the Stone and The Garden of the Stone, high fantasies set on an alternate Earth where technology is outlawed; and The Burning Land and The Awakened City, epic fantasy adventures with topical themes of political oppression and religious terrorism. Her YA books include The Lady of Rhuddesmere, a medieval historical; Worldstone, a parallel world fantasy with a contemporary setting; Guardian of the Hills, a historical fantasy that takes place during the Depression; and Passion Blue and Color Song, a pair of historical novels set in fifteenth century Padua and Venice, about a talented girl's struggle to become a painter in defiance of the rigid social conventions of her time.

She has also written hundreds of book reviews for magazines and ezines, including SF Site, and her articles on writing have appeared in Writer's Digest and elsewhere. In 2006, she served as a judge for the World Fantasy Awards.

Victoria is co-founder, with the late Ann Crispin, of Writer Beware, a publishing industry watchdog group sponsored by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association. Writer Beware tracks, exposes, and raises awareness about schemes, scams, and other bad practice in the publishing industry, with the aim of providing writers with tools to protect themselves from exploitation. Victoria created the Writer Beware website, and maintains the very active Writer Beware blog and Facebook page.

She lives in Amherst, Massachusetts with her husband and two cats. When not writing, she's a keen flower gardener, a voracious and eclectic reader, an enthusiastic hiker and biker, a film buff, and a bit of an exercise and nutrition nut.
