Dr. Theresa Nellis writes for readers who prefer their magic dangerous, their heroes underestimated, and their choices impossible.

She is the author of the upper-middle-grade 'Keeper of the Mirror' trilogy and the young-adult 'School for the Magically Insane' series. Her stories blend dangerous magic, dark humor, fierce young protagonists, and choices that refuse to stay safely on the page.

A former teacher and social worker with a Ph.D. in Education, Theresa has spent much of her life working with young people—and learning that they are often braver, sharper, and far more complicated than adults give them credit for.

She is currently writing 'The Vale Protocol,' an adult speculative dystopian-horror series about mercy, artificial intelligence, and what happens when a system discovers it can redistribute human suffering.

Theresa lives and writes under the supervision of Louie, a small rescue dog with the emotional authority of an ancient king and no respect for deadlines.
