Robert Scott Oikle was born and raised in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. His distinguished career in the Canadian Armed Forces began in 1991 when he enlisted as a Non-Commissioned Member, serving as a Gunner with the 3rd Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. Over three decades, he progressed through various roles, from Army Communication and Information Systems Specialist to Aerospace Controller and Senior Operations Officer in Afghanistan. His service included domestic and international operations such as the Red River Floods in Winnipeg, the 1998 Ice Storm in both Quebec and Ontario as well as Cyprus. He later held leadership positions at 1 Wing Headquarters and the Royal Military College of Canada before retiring from full-time service in 2021. Serving now as a reservist and the Officer Commanding the Communications and Electronics Museum at CFB Kingston, Scott remains dedicated to preserving Canada’s military history.
