Many things have lost their power and became symbols in our life. Among them is The Light. The candles have been preserved only in churches, as symbols. Today, the living light of candles burns symbolically. Replaced by light bulbs, we lit them without knowing their purpose. What is their purpose, really? The Light of the Day is different from The Light of the Night, as the sun is different from the moon. The night is for sleep and meditation, but strong lights prevent its remedy. It is foolishness not to have the chance to experiment the absence of light. But beware! False lights illuminate our exterior, causing darkness to grow secretly within. If our days would start at sunrise and end at night fall, we would have enough time to work and to relax; we would not sleep during the most beautiful hours of the day, when everything smells fresh; and we would not stay awake at night, when it's time to rest our bodies. Because of this, darkness and irascibility have poisoned people's mind and soul: mental illness, stress, anxiety, depression, accidie, etc. But you, dear reader, rejoice in The Light! Rejoice in what little you have. And don't forget to give thanks to the Lord. For everything.
