I qualified as an Occupational Therapist (BSc Hons) from the University of Liverpool in 2004. For a number of years, I worked as a Community Occupational Therapist in the East Midlands of the UK. During this time much of my work was with people suffering from Dementia. Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist, I have developed skills as a Play Therapist and Community Art Counsellor as my practice has moved to work with children over recent years. I have been in therapy practice for 14 years across a number of specialities and have also taught a variety of courses to health professionals, educators, and caregivers primarily around emotional development and trauma, my current speciality. For a number of years, I have been living in South Africa. Here I have developed as a professional artist and have combined my clinical skills with art specifically to help children who have suffered trauma. Currently, I am working with a number of children in addition to running workshops and training for a wide adult audience on issues associated with trauma. I have created a series of books and resources to help children and those who care for them. These are now being published worldwide after being enthusiastically received across South Africa and the UK.
