Much of this work is shaped by a period of deliberate erasure. Language came first—an early lesson in how symbols outlive their speakers and how meaning hardens into law. What followed was departure: a long shedding of names, addresses, and explanations. Years lived beyond formal belonging, where identity thins, time slows, and survival becomes a form of study.

Now writing from chosen exile, Clayton works at the fault line between systems and people, where decisions are made softly and consequences arrive without ceremony.
