Phyllida Shrimpton is an author of uplifting and heartwarming women’s fiction. She is currently writing her wartime saga series for Boldwood Books set on the Grand Union Canal during the Second World War. Nicknamed the “Idle Women”, the series follows three young women who stepped away from their ordinary lives into extraordinary circumstances to help keep Britain’s waterways moving. Working up to twenty hours a day in cramped and challenging conditions, they discover that courage, determination and friendship could thrive in even the darkest of times. Perfect for fans of May Ellis and Rosie Archer.

Her debut novel, Sunflowers in February, won the Red Book Award in Falkirk, Scotland and was shortlisted for the Centurion Book Awards for Bath and North East Somerset schools. The Colour of Shadows was shortlisted for the Amazing Book Awards.
Every Shade of Happy, was shortlisted for the Gorsedh Kernow’s Holyer an Gof Cornish culture awards.

Phyllida lives in Essex by the water with her husband, daughter, fuzzy grey cat and rescue tortoise. When she is not writing she can usually be found decorating her Victorian house, a project that is never quite finished, or planning and ventures with family and friends.
