Paul Cuatrecasas is the author of Go Tech, or Go Extinct in which he shares his revolutionary approach to transforming legacy companies into forward-thinking industry leaders through the strategic acquisition of disruptive technology companies. In 2003, Paul founded the investment-banking firm Alegro Capital, which advised companies operating in the telecoms, media, technology (TMT), retail, industrial, and consumer industries. By 2008, the firm had grown to thirty-five employees and had acted as exclusive financial adviser on completed merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions of over $1 billion. Paul Cuatrecasas is the founder and CEO of Aquaa Partners, an investment-banking firm based in London. Over the past twenty-eight years, Paul has completed over forty-five merger and acquisition transactions worth more than $10 billion and over sixty corporate finance advisory and strategic consultancy assignments around the world. Paul has advised on a range of transactions, from multibillion-dollar deals to those as small as a few million, in more than twenty-five countries. He has also originated and structured twenty private placements of equity capital, raising over $500 million. In 1993, Paul also was the co-founder and managing director of ARC Associates, which by 1998 had grown to forty-five employees and was executing transactions of over $1 billion, becoming a leading London-based independent TMT mergers-and-acquisitions advisory practice with a full range of blue-chip and entrepreneurial clients, including Sonera, ICL Fujitsu, Cable & Wireless, KKR, Apax, Marconi, Equant, Permira, and BT. During his tenure, he also directed the ARC Associates investment program, achieving a professional-investment track record of at least 50 percent annualized returns from 1994 to 2000. Prior to ARC Associates, Paul advised large corporates at Arkwright Capital (ex-Bain & Company partners)—an M&A and strategy-consulting advisory firm in London (1991 to 1993)—and GE Capital as part of its corporate finance group in New York (1989 to 1991). Paul holds an MBA in finance from Columbia University, where he was awarded the Roswell C. McCrea Scholarship, and a BA in economics from Wake Forest University. Paul holds dual US and UK citizenship, and he speaks fluent Spanish. Paul has been quoted in the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, U.S. News & World Report, and Forbes. He lives (most of the time) in London with his wife and three children. Learn more at www.paulcuatrecasas.com.
