Nicki is a former bookseller, and lives in Oxfordshire where she ran a bookshop for more than ten years. She is passionate about books, bookshops and reading for pleasure. Her ‘wickedly funny and wildly original haunted whodunit’ crime fiction fantasy thrillers have been nominated for awards including the Carnegie Medal, the CrimeFest Best Crime Novel for Children and Specsavers National Book Awards. She has been described by Waterstones as ‘one of the most original children’s writers around’. These gothic crime mysteries are filled with adventure, friendship, unexpected twists and a sprinkling of magic. Her first murdery mystery for adults - Little Bookshop of Murders - is the first in a brand new series of cosy crime novels featuring Keera Munroe, a former lawyer who thinks (wrongly) that opening a village bookshop will leave to a quieter and less dramatic life... Find out more about Nicki's books and writing life with her entertaining regular Substack, 'Making Crime Pay' or listen to her read each of her opening chapters on YouTube @nickithornton4674, which is also full of writing tips.
