Nick Chater is Professor of Behavioural Science at Warwick Business School. He works at the boundary of the cognitive and social sciences, and focuses on the nature of rationality, whether in individual minds, societies, or public policy. He is the author of The Mind is Flat, The Language Game (with Morten Christensen), and Bayesian Models of Cognition (with Tom Griffiths and Joshua Tenenbaum). He is the co-founder of the London-based research consultancy Decision Technology and has served on the UK Government's Climate Change Committee. He is the recipient of the 2023 David E. Rumelhart Prize for his lifetime contribution to cognitive science. Nick Chater lives in Oxford, UK.
