Neal Walter Fortner is the son of United States diplomats and was born in Cyprus. His first nineteen years were spent overseas in Central America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Europe, where he attended American Community Schools and explored various cultures first hand. After returning to the states, he attended college and graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in 1985, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Political Science. After college, he has been researching and working in the surveying map-making field. His hobbies include writing, collecting war artifacts, stamps, and world currency, and Civil War reenacting. Genre of writing includes short stories, novels, non-fiction, and a Civil War newsletter for a re-enactors' regiment. Currently, he has published a children's Book [Oscar's Alphabet Book], two pictorial nonfiction books [The Buenos Aires Subway: A Pictorial History of the Construction of Line B, 1928 - 1932 and Hermann Göring's 1935 Photo Album: A Contradiction of Humanity], and a historical fiction novel [No Kisses For Daddy], which has been made into an audio book. He is married, has a step-daughter, and two dogs. He resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
