Nata a Roma nel 1970, Michela Marzano è Professore ordinario di Filosofia Morale all'Università Paris Descartes (SHS Sorbonne). Editorialista alla Repubblica, saggista e scrittrice, Michela Marzano scrive sia in italiano sia in francese. Alcuni dei suoi libri sono stati tradotti in tedesco, spagnolo, portoghese, inglese, arabo e greco. Nel 2011, pubblica Volevo essere una farfalla, tradotto poi in francese (Légère comme un papillon) in cui racconta la storia della propria anoressia. Nel 2014, vince il premio Bancarella con L'amore è tutto. Nel 2017, pubblica con Einaudi Stile Libero il suo primo romanzo: L'amore che mi resta (tradotto in francese fa Grasset nel 2018: L'amour qui me reste). A gennaio del 2019, uscirà il suo secondo romanzo sempre con Einaudi Stile Libero.
