Mercedes Koefoed is a fantasy author who believes magic belongs in the everyday. Her stories blend grounded magic, rich worldbuilding, and characters from her heart. She began writing when she was young and rediscovered her love for storytelling in 2023. Her debut novel, When the Portals Open, released September 19, 2025. She lives in Texas, where she homeschools her three children and surrounds herself with family as often as possible. When she’s not writing, she’s probably creating character art, chasing kiddos, or rearranging her bookshelves.
