Saga writer May Ellis lives in a road named after a Clarks shoe on the site of a former shoe factory, so it was inevitable that this author would want to write about the people who worked for Clarks in days gone by. 'The Clarks Factory Girls at War' is the first in a series of historical sagas about Louisa, Jeannie and Kate, who work together at Clarks during the First World War. 'Courage for the Clarks Factory Girls', is the next in the series, and book three is 'Dark Times for the Clarks Factory Girls'. The fourth and final book in the series is 'New Hope for the Clarks Factory Girls'. May is delighted that all this series is now available during the Clarks bicentenary year 2025, celebrating 200 years of shoemaking in Somerset. Lily's Choice is a standalone novel inspired by real events in May Ellis's family in London in the 1960s. It is a heartbreaking tale of how ordinary people can find themselves in extraordinary situations as a result of the choices they make. This book was previously published under the title, Mine, by Darkstroke Books under the pen name Alison Knight. The Cider Girls is her latest series, set in Somerset in WW2, telling the story of Land Army girl Rose, ATS girl Elsie and district nurse Daisy as they learn of the existence of a secret army being prepared to become the British resistance when the German invasion happens. These courageous girls prove their worth and join this clandestine network, ready to defend king and country. . May Ellis is published by Boldwood Books.
