Technically, I’m also USA Today and international bestselling indie author. But mostly I sell books here and there because I f*cking love it! I live in Minnesota despite the frozen winters. Actually, I prefer snow drifts and icicles over summer and all that sweat running everywhere. Seriously. I sweat a lot. I love to write about bitches, breakups, and bloodbaths—not in any particular order, but preferably all together. I live with my husband and little family, which includes a few lazy cats who make great lap warmers, a 70-pound chocolate lab who thinks she’s a damn lap dog, a seven-year-old who sometimes forgets she isn’t feral, a sweet angel boy too good for this world, and a husband who way too often gets into power struggles with the feral child. I keep trying to tell him you can’t win with them, there’s only losing. You can usually find me wishing that I lived in a secret cabin in the woods, preferably in a modern Frank Lloyd Wright style, where I can be a hermit, reading and writing all of the time. Instead, I live the suburban life where I pretend that she don’t swear like a sailor, have hidden tattoos, and love a freaky story when she’s around her neighbors and the other moms. I absolutely believe in unicorns and ghosts and hope vampires and monsters are real too. I’m a coffee-in-the-morning and ice-water-in-the-evening kind of person (it used to be wine, but this bitch is clean and sober now) and always preferably with a nap in between. I prefer cats over dogs (sorry Zoey), books over people, and late nights over early mornings. I probably shouldn’t talk to anyone until I’ve had her first cup of coffee, extra sugar. And if you ever want to hang out with me, you’ll have to be game for a horror movie or just a quick run to Target for two (hundred) little things. Also, you couldn’t pay me to be in her twenties again; thirties is where it’s at. I’m a creative, mouthy, introverted, proud bisexual, miscarriage warrior, highly-sensitive INFP-T, chronic-pain spoonie champion, battler of anxiety, Slytherpuff, dork with a sweet-tooth and a foul mouth. I devour books, reading mostly in bed or listening to audiobooks in the car. Writing has been one of my passions for pretty much my whole life. So, creativity is a necessity for her, always. My dream life is being a stay-at-home writer, kiddo wrangler, professional snuggler, and constantly-tired-person. When it comes to my writing, I specialize in dark and twisted thrillers or gritty, angsty contemporary romances. But no matter the genre, I always prefer writing deeply flawed characters with dysfunctional relationships. I’m pretty sure the whole "unlikable character" thing is a conspiracy because every character I love have been labelled this way. Amy Dunn is my queen, just saying. And because of this, I’ve pretty much found it impossible to write anything without at least a little mayhem. I was once told I painted with my words, and that phrase stuck with me—because writing really is an art, and good stories are true masterpieces. I’m always trying to grow and improve in my craft, shooting for a masterpiece of my own someday. And I plan to write forever because writing gives me the ability to disappear into new worlds and create people within twisting plots, all from the comfort of my couch. Or bed. Or hiding in the bathroom from that chaotic family I mentioned before. But, whatever—it’s all the same lol. I will always believe that though not every story is for me, and my stories aren't for everyone, every story has a reader.
