The hardest writing I ever have to produce is writing about myself. But here goes. The top soil of my life is that I’m a mother to two gifted adult sons, sister to five siblings who I look up to, aunt to more nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews than I can count, and friend to some reassuring folks who never stop encouraging me to detox from being me so that I can become who God created me to be. Now when you dig a little deeper, I orient my world around these relationships, plus a small group of men and women who I met in a spiritual direction program nine years ago. We meet monthly to share our spiritual lives and listen to God’s invitations to draw closer to Him right where we are. This is one of the most transformative gifts a person can ever receive in life, a safe, loving and nonjudgmental place to be honest about yourself to yourself and others. When I dare to be brutally honest, I will tell you that I know more about God than I practice and I’m very grateful for His bountiful grace. I see new mercies every day. Great is His faithfulness. Great are my needs which He never fails to meet.
