Luciano Floridi is the John K. Castle Professor in the Practice of Cognitive Science and Founding Director of the Digital Ethics Center at Yale University. He is also a Professor of Sociology of Culture and Communication in the Department of Legal Studies at Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna. Before joining Yale, he was the OII Professor of Philosophy and Ethics of Information at the University of Oxford. His areas of expertise include digital ethics, AI ethics, the philosophy of information, and the philosophy of technology. His work has been translated into many languages. Among his numerous recognitions, he has received the award of Cavaliere di Gran Croce dell'Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana (Knight of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic), which is Italy's highest national honour, awarded by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, through a special decree in 2022.
